Phedi, Ghandruk and, Ghorepani Trek is similar to any other trek around Annapurna Region of Nepal is one of the alluring destinations for adventure lovers and walking holiday lovers. Ghandruk to Ghorepani Trekking can be termed as natural and cultural excursion in the most scenic places on earth. Panoramic mountains and plethora of vegetation’s mainly colourful rhododendron forests creates effervescent trekking holiday. Trek to this magnificent model village Ghandruk and iconic sunrise viewpoint Poon Hill. Moderate trekking during the day yet endowing marvellous mountain vistas really worth every penny spent for the trip.

Trek starts after short a bus drive from Pokhara to Phedi and we begin our trek at Dhampus Phedi, (1120 m.) We then have a steep climb up to Dhampus Village (1770 m) with views of Dhaulagiri (8167 m), the 7th tallest mountain in the world, Mardi Himal, Fishtail (6993 m), the Annapurna Range, Lamjung Himal (6900 m) and Manaslu Range. The trek gently ascents to Deurali (2000 m) through the forest via Pothana village (1850 m)

Moreover, the trip return features natural hot water springs too near Tatopani. It is believed that the bathing in Tatopani natural water springs helps trekkers to revitalize trekkers’ soul and tired muscles. The time spent in Tatopani is the last day of trekking and you can enjoy trekking moments with trekking team and meet the bike crew for your next journey stay overnight at Tatopani.

Itinerary

Be aware that all time stated are approximate and may vary with individual and group fitness, weather, Trekking route, river level and road conditions.

You will be met by your Adventure Hub Nepal, (AHN) guide at the airport transfer to your hotel. Relax and recover from jetlag and then have dinner in a local restaurant nearby the hotel in the Thamel area of Kathmandu. Stay overnight in hotel.

Not Included: Lunch and Dinner 

Visit Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath, Patan Durbar Square and the Patan Museum. Between 4-6 PM pre-departure meeting for the trip at hotel. Get any last minute personalized items or gear for the trip. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Get up early have breakfast and get ready for 5 to 6 hours drive to Pokhara with private bus. After a couple of hours drive stop on the way for lunch. Continue another couple of hours then we reach to the beautiful  town of Pokhara where you will see the best mountain views from your hotel roof top.

See the majestic Fishtail and Annapurna South mountain ranges and many more. Spend the afternoon exploring Pokhara and getting prepared for the trek. Stay overnight in Pokhara.

After driving approximately 40 minutes from Pokhara, we begin our trek at Dhampus Phedi, (1120 m.) We then have a steep climb up to Dhampus Village (1770 m) with views of Dhaulagiri (8167 m), the 7th tallest mountain in the world, Mardi Himal, Fishtail (6993 m), the Annapurna Range, Lamjung Himal (6932 m) and Manaslu Range. The trek gently ascents to Deurali (2100 m) through the forest via Pothana village (1890 m), trek for 5 to 6 hours.

This trek descends to Bherikhaka through forests, and then it is a flat walk to Landruk via Tolka village. You will walk through the civilizations of Magar and Gurung cultures as you pass through many local villages, terrace fields and green hills. From Landruk trek down to the Modi Khola River and this ascends steeply by a staircase to Ghandruk village. This is the second largest Gurung village, having about 310 households, one of the major ethnic group out of the 66 identified ethnic groups of Nepal and is well known for the brave Gurkhas. There is a handicraft centre and the Gurung museum which is well worth a visit.  Mount Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Annapurna, Annapurna III and Fishtail are clearly visible and in close proximity to Ghandruk.

Trek from Ghandruk to Tadapani where the track gradually ascends through fields and lush dense forest. You could pass via Bhaisi Kharka and enjoy the birds chirping sounds.  Along the way you could see beautiful mountain views and green hills.

At first the trek descends steeply downstream for half an hour then immediately steeply ascends up to Banthanti (2650m). Again, your trail steeply ascends for about two hours to Deurali (3100m). After Deurali the trek is still gradual and ascends up to Gurung Hill (3200m) and then it descends all the way to Ghorepani through pine, oak and rhododendron forest with beautiful mountain views and green hills. You feel as if you are traveling in the most pristine mountain environment. Walking time is 5 to 6 hours.

This morning, we will get up early and go hiking up Poon Hill (3200m). From here you will see superb views of the sunrise and panoramic views of the Himalayas. Including, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Fishtail and Machpuchare.  After sumitting Poonhill, we will trek mostly downhill to Tatopani.

You will have the opportunity to see some or all of these mountains today; Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Tukuche Peak (6920m), Nilgiri (6940m), Varaha Shikhar (7847m), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m), Annapurna III (7555m), Machhapuchhare (6993m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna II (7937m), Lamjung Himal (6932m), Manaslu and other numerous clad mountain peaks.

Have breakfast at Ghorepani and then the trek descends all the way to Tatopani via Chitre, Shikha & Ghara villages. Tatopani takes its name from the hot springs near the river below the village. You can enjoy the hot spring at Tatopani as the word describes.  It is popularly believed that taking a bath in the Hot Spring helps you to get rid of skin diseases and rheumatic problems. Of course, it gives you physical and mental refreshment as well.

In Tatopani we will meet our professional Mountain Biking guides. Pick up our bikes and get fitted out for cycling.  Bike from Tatopani to Beni 3 or 4 hours.  Ride on gentle sloping terrain and a wide jeep track, back into the lush surroundings of the Himalayan foothills to the village of Beni.

We will ride mostly downhill on the road through villages and rolling hills. Cycling along the beautiful Kali Gandaki River we will see the thundering whitewater rapids.  This will take around an hour and a half.

We will then meet our Whitewater Rafting crew and get fitted out with equipment for whitewater rafting and after our safety briefing we will raft for couple hours. Camp on the riverbank.

The beautiful scenery on this remote river makes it a fantastic short multiday river trip. It passes through narrow gorges, alongside tumbling waterfalls and lush jungle. Whitewater rapids such as ‘Big Brother, Little Brother, Good Morning and Landslide just to name a few, will give you feelings of exhiliration and excitement. As we descend this stunning river, we will camp on the riverbank each night.

In the afternoon on Day 13 we take out at lunchtime and have lunch after the packup. Drive approximately 4 hrs to Pokhara, Stay overnight in Pokhara and Group celebration dinner.

For those that are interested you can try some more adventurous activities around the Pokhara region. For example; The World’s best and longest zipline or some Paragliding. These are an additional cost of around $120 USD per person for each activity. Adventure Hub Nepal are happy to organize that for you if you would like to book when you arrive in Nepal.  Option for overnight stay in Pokhara.

Alternatively, if people have time restraints or simply people don’t want to go by road there is the option to fly back to Kathmandu which takes around 45 minutes. This is an additional cost of around $130 USD per person which AHN staff can organize for you upon arrival in Nepal.

Drive back to Kathmandu which is around six hours.  If going by road, this is included in your trip cost and you will arrive in Kathmandu around 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Enjoy some last minute shopping. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.
