Ram Bhandari discovered rafting from his home on the banks of the Trishuli River. He moved to Kathmandu from his home village Baireni when he was 15 and began his career from 1996 on the tourist industry.

 

His one of the Nepal’s most accomplished rafting and trekking guides, as well as safety kayaker and kayak instructor. His outstanding expedition and competition skills has lead him to become one of the leading kayakers in Nepal and his best placed result was 1st place in the Peak Challenge on the Bhote Kosi River 2002.

 

He has done over 10 to 15 first descents in Nepal and Tibet and was involved in setting up and establishing rafting and kayaking in Tibet having spent 3 seasons there with Wind Horse Adventures from 2003/2005.

 

He has also been involved in many expeditions and first descents in Nepal including an all-Russian expedition on the Upper Arun Gorges 2001, rafting first descent down the Arun Gorges 2015 and the Yigong Psangpo in Tibet, just to name a few.

 

He has been involved in teaching outdoor education to groups in Australia and facilitating whitewater expeditions for many different student and adult groups. His skills in sea kayaking have grown and he has led many sea kayak trips in far northern Queensland, lead whitewater rafting trips on the Franklin River in Tasmania and has extensive experience in TAFE and Outdoor Education programs.

 

Ram is the (CEO) and a managing director of Adventure Hub Nepal and runs the overall operation. He oversees all the marketing, promotion, liaising with participants who come on trips and develops and implements all the staff training. He is always coming up with great new ideas and new routes for adventure seekers to go and experience Nepal.

 

Ram is also very passionate about volunteer work and charity work where he is heavily involved in many projects. He founded and set up the Sharmila Foundation and is on the board for this. He has done lots of fundraising for schools in Nepal to help promote awareness especially after massive earthquake in 2015.
